Apart from bringing benefits to the local economy, green hydrogen generation and all of the applications that we are developing at BenortH2 represent a commitment to our society and to the rest of the world. We are fully involved in the global fight against climate change, and we are working to ensure that the energy used worldwide is clean energy. Using the renewable energy sources available to us on our territory, along with electrolysers, hydrogen fuel cells, hydrogen pipeline infrastructures and the rest of the cutting-edge technology that we are rolling out at BenortH2, we will not only obtain hydrogen but also oxygen: a big breath of fresh air for everyone.
THE USE OF GREEN HYDROGEN IS KEY TO DECARBONIZATION
With the 2015 Paris Agreement the majority of countries reaffirmed their commitment to reducing CO2 emissions with the aim of halting and reversing global temperature increases. To make this possible it is essential to minimize the burning of fossil fuels. Green hydrogen is currently the best alternative available to us.
The location of the BenortH2 plant, at the Amorebieta CCGT plant, fosters the synergies between these two technologies, allowing us to consider a decarbonized future for the combined cycle plant over the long term.
CLEAN, RENEWABLE ENERGY
The characteristics of green hydrogen make it the perfect fuel for storing and transporting wherever it is needed. Moreover, no contaminating gases are emitted in its production or use, making it an environmentally-friendly energy at the point of generation and consumption alike.
Green hydrogen generation also gives a big boost to the use of emissions-free energy sources, increasing the competitiveness of the current renewables industry while opening up possibilities for new companies creating clean energy.
